This is a light, cool, creamy, flavorful dessert that will satisfy your sweet tooth when it’s hot outside, or any time for that matter!
It reminds me of strawberry shortcake but in a pie version.
It’s not too sweet and who doesn’t love chocolate & strawberries!?
1 cooked pie crust*
1 cup heavy whipping cream
8 oz cream cheese softened
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
1/2 Tbsp. shortening
1/4 cup milk chocolate chips
* Bake the pie crust following directions on packaging and let cool – or better yet, use homemade!
**Cut strawberries in half or quarters, depending on their size – slicing them also works just fine
Beat heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy.
Gradually add in sugar and vanilla.
Fold cream cheese mixture into the beaten heavy whipped cream until evenly combined.
Spoon into cooled pie crust.
Arrange strawberries over the top of filling.
Melt 1/2 Tbsp shortening and 1/4 cup chocolate chips in microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
Drizzle over strawberries & Refrigerate at least 1-2 hours
Slice up & Serve cold ~ Enjoy!!!
